How to Take a Screenshot to Share With Others?
You may very easily take the current image of your screen and save it to an image file.
There is a dedicated shortcut key on almost all standard keyboards for this purpose, with the title "PRT SCR" (abbrev. of "PRINT SCREEN").
To take a screenshot of your screen:
- Press PRTSCN button once from your keyboard to copy your screen image to memory.
You will not get any visual/audial response from your computer after pressing the key, so don't be surprised.
- Open Windows Paint program.
- Paste the image into the Paint program. You may press CTRL+V or click the paste button from toolbar to do this.
- Optionally, you may crop/delete/obscure any unwanted areas you don't want to share at this stage.
- Save the image to file, preferably in jpg or png format.
Tip:
Beware that, the right key combination may be slightly different on laptop keyboards, so if just pressing PRTSCR key
did not work, try:
- pressing PRTSCR key while holding down Windows Logo Key.
or
- holding down both Windows Logo as well as FN keys and then pressing SPACE key.
Tip:
Pressing PRTSCR key takes the entire screen image by default. If you however press PRTSCR key while holding down ALT key,
this will take the image of the "active window" only, omitting the rest of the screen content.
